ينجح الممثل الأمريكي ويل سميث في إثبات مدى قدرته على تجسيد أدوار مختلفة باستمرار، لكن براعة التمثيل ليست كافية، لاقتناص الأدوار المهمة.
يتفاوض سميث حاليا على تجسيد دور مدرب التنس ريتشارد ويليامز، والد لاعبتي التنس فينوس وسيرينا وليامز، في فيلم يحمل اسم King Richard.
لكن وقوع الاختيار عليه، أثار غضب البعض عبر مواقع التواصل الاجتماعي، بسبب أن الممثل صاحب الـ50 عامًا لا يتمتع ببشرة سمراء مشابهة لبشرة ويليامز. واقترح آخرون منح الدور لممثل أسود اللون مثل ماهرشالا علي وإدريس ألبا.
أول من فتح النقاش على موقع Twitter، كان الكاتب كلارنس هيل جونيور، الذي أكد أنه يحب ويل سميث، لكن مسائلة اللون مهمة.
